This is a long overdue update as we are working hard to get the next version out the door and into your hands by end of March.
Our current focus has been on re-working some key APIs and libraries that Apple has decided to end support for albeit a bit abruptly from our point of view. We've used these APIs since day one when NoteTaker was first introduced (from way back in 2002). If you've been a user from the first Mac OS X versions to macOS (Catalina) of today then you also know how much change has taken place on the surface but also many changes underneath the hood of the operating system and libraries that we use. As developers we do our best to keep up with Apple's changes but it's not always a smooth or quick hand-off to update and change.
As a result, the workload has been considerable but we are now closer to our own internal testing cycle of version 4.1.0 then we'll begin the work towards review and approval by the App Store team.
I'm very excited to announce that we have officially released NoteTaker 4 which is now live on Apple's App Store for purchase here. As you can imagine, it's been a hectic last ten days or so getting to this point. I can't say enough good things about my co-founder Michael McNabb and his amazing work. The last few bugs were incredibly difficult to nail down and fix. We feel like the rock group that has just released a lovingly crafted, acoustic version of its best work yet. We're out of the studio and ready to celebrate with all of you.
We also want to offer our sincere thank you and many kudos to everyone that has been writing and encouraging us especially when we were facing multiple challenges. It's truly been a labor of love for us. We hope you enjoy using NoteTaker 4 and look forward to hearing your stories.
OK, we're coming up to speed on letting everyone know about the good news. It may be a...
First up, we've finished the NoteTaker 4 User's Guide documentation and it's in final review. There are still a few software issues that we need to fix before we submit to Apple for their technical review and final approval. Our best guess at this point is a June release on the Mac App Store. We're currently working on version 60 of the pre-release software. Here's a sneak peek of the User's Guide with some screen shots of the contents. That's right. As longtime NoteTaker and NoteShare users know, we've always delivered our documentation in notebooks as it should be.
