We have completed our final internal testing work with NoteTaker 4.1 and are now preparing to submit to the App Store for review this week. The process is unpredictable so we could pass quickly or there might be issues that require additional work on our end. We always do our best to anticipate these issues but given the complexity of supporting multiple versions of macOS, we simply can't know everything ahead of time. Wish us luck!
It should be noted that NoteTaker 4.1 supports the following macOS versions: High Sierra, Mojave and Catalina. Previously we supported four different versions but we have to move on and leverage the resources we have as best as possible. We salute and say goodbye to Sierra support.
What to expect from 4.1? It's a maintenance and performance release with some enhanced capabilities as the result of building a new approach to indexing content. The Index section feature is faster, more robust and now supports exact phrase queries. Additionally,...
This is a long overdue update as we are working hard to get the next version out the door and into your hands by end of March.
Our current focus has been on re-working some key APIs and libraries that Apple has decided to end support for albeit a bit abruptly from our point of view. We've used these APIs since day one when NoteTaker was first introduced (from way back in 2002). If you've been a user from the first Mac OS X versions to macOS (Catalina) of today then you also know how much change has taken place on the surface but also many changes underneath the hood of the operating system and libraries that we use. As developers we do our best to keep up with Apple's changes but it's not always a smooth or quick hand-off to update and change.
As a result, the workload has been considerable but we are now closer to our own internal testing cycle of version 4.1.0 then we'll begin the work towards review and approval by the App Store team.
Mike and I want to thank everyone who has supported the NoteTaker 4 launch this past quarter. We appreciate your support and your encouragement. We continue to be humbled by your thoughtful App Store reviews and ratings. And, we also realize that there can be frustrating issues with a specific hardware and system set-up.
We pledge to make every effort to fix bugs that we can reproduce otherwise we will continue to help find workarounds whenever possible. As some of you can confirm, we're here to help and always available by e-mail. We respect your time and your investment in working with us.
Yes, we're busy working on a new update, Version 4.0.6 to fix bugs and address some future compatibility requirements. We'll keep everyone posted here on the blog when we've submitted it to the App Store team. Once the latest NoteTaker 4 is live on the App Store, then we'll notify via the opt-in mailing list (home page sign-up if y...
