New NoteTaker release delivers "1-Step Web Publishing" improvements FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Palo Alto, CA - Wednesday, March 12, 2003) - AquaMinds Software Corporation announced today that NoteTaker 1.1.3 released last Friday, delivers unparalleled simplicity to users publishing their own web notebooks on homepage servers such as Apple's .Mac Internet service. Using NoteTaker's built-in command called Create Web Notebook™, any type of notebook information, including outlines, notes, multimedia files (QuickTime movies, sounds, photos, animations and music), links, drawings, PDF images and NoteTaker voice memos can be transformed into a fully functional web site for browsing. "We're taking our lead from the pioneering work of the weblog innovators who are demonstrating daily that the Internet remains the most powerful personal medium for publishing and sharing information. Our users have been telling us that they want to share and publish their notebooks as web sites. The improvements to our Create Web Notebook™ command provide richer content support, more UI and appearance features. A typical application scenario is to use the Create Web Notebook™ command and output the results directly to a service such as Apple's .Mac which makes personal homepage hosting a reality for the rest of us," said Scott Love, President, AquaMinds Software Corporation. "We firmly believe that web publishing should be a trivial task, not a technical IQ test, and absolutely be as simple as clicking on a single button or using one command. Clearly, publishing a web notebook is not the same task as building an e-commerce site for example but the potential reach in both cases is enormous since anybody using a browser has instant, 24x7 access to the information. So, in our example, it doesn't matter that the web notebook contents were originally organized and published using NoteTaker on a Mac running OS X, the result is still the same, universal information presentation and viewing through a web browser. The potential leverage is enormous especially if .Mac users appreciate and want the benefits of on-demand web publishing using NoteTaker. Today, I can go from my OS X desktop to a live, interactive web notebook in minutes, not hours, not days, not weeks. Really, just minutes. And again, no technical knowledge or intermediary service is required. If there is something faster or simpler than NoteTaker, that can produce web notebooks with rich, multimedia content support, we're not aware of it," said Love. AquaMinds points out that Create Web Notebook™ will work with any web server/homepage hosting service. The example described above using Apple's .Mac service is highlighted because iDisk activation/access is built directly into OS X's Finder application for added ease of use and integration. Additionally, AquaMinds has tested and verified web notebook viewing using popular browsers including Microsoft Internet Explorer and beta versions of Apple's new OS X browser, Safari. AquaMinds Notebook Knowledge Exchange Service Announced Today
NoteTaker 1.1.3 Now Available
Information Processing Power Every Day For some tasks, generating a long document is not required and yet there is a need to capture information, organize and process it. Making an outline or creating a list are both examples of tasks that don't necessarily require a word processor and yet the idea of electronic paper for jotting down notes is useful and convenient. Even the capture, retrieval, and organization of random information throughout the day is another example of the need NoteTaker fills. NoteTaker is an ideal tool for working with unstructured, on-the-fly information you create, organize or gather daily. Using it can be as simple as making lists or as complex as organizing a notebook full of personal notes and pages of information. As NoteTaker's visual metaphor of an electronic spiral notebook with section tabs suggests, there is always the need to find and to retrieve information at anytime without the complexity or the overhead of a database system. Thus, NoteTaker automatically and transparently works behind the scenes to index and categorize notebooks full of information. If it's in NoteTaker, it can be searched and retrieved anytime.
AquaMinds Mission This design approach aims not only to eliminate unnecessary command states and confusing user modes but also to encourage experimentation and customization. Simply put, AquaMinds is focused on "mindful" design that strives to bring the most human interface as close to the surface as possible. Software that can be used every single day.
