NoteTaker Best Practices
Here are some general tips to keep in mind as you work with NoteTaker.
To delete your Trial version of NoteTaker
After purchasing a NoteTaker license, you can remove the 30-day Trial copy of NoteTaker by
dragging it to the Trash. Locate the document titled NoteTaker Trial in your Applications folder
(in the Finder). Then drag that document to the Trash icon in your Dock. (You can similarly
remove the Install NoteTaker Trial.dmg file from your Desktop.)
To delete old notebooks...
You can also delete a notebook you no longer want, such as an old .ntz archive, by dragging it
from the Finder to the Trash.
To transfer a notebook to a Drop Box or remote server...
For best performance when browsing a large notebook...
Compact the notebook's Index regularly, which can reduce the notebook's size.
Normally, NoteTaker compacts a notebook's Index automatically. You can also do it
yourself using the Tools > Compact Index command (even if the Index isn't currently
showing). You can use Preferences to tell NoteTaker when and how often to compact,
or to turn auto-compacting off (and compact Indexes yourself). See "Set File
Management Preferences" on page 122.
If performance is still slow while paging through a large notebook, collapse all the
notebook's outlines using the Outline > Collapse Notebook command.
