Add Web Search Sites
The Web Search Field in a notebook's toolbar comes set up with several popular Internet search
sites, including Google, Yahoo, and more. But you can add your own search sites as well.
1
In any Web browser, go to the search site you want to add and conduct a search. Note
the resulting URL, which probably includes a long string of cryptic characters and
culminates in your search term. Keep that browser window around.
2
In NoteTaker's Toolbar Preferences, click the + to add a search site. Enter a Title to
appear in the Web Search field. Then enter the URL Prefix by copying the URL from
the browser window, only leave out your search word (often preceded by an "=", as
in ...term=
searchword
.).
3
Choose your site in any notebook's Web search Field, and perform a search.
WHAT ELSE?
When you conduct a search at some search sites, a URL suffix might also appear (identifying a language, for
example), which you should copy into the Suffix field in Toolbar preferences. The URL suffix is everything that
appears after your search word. For example, if the resulting URL for a search on the term "amino" is
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?term=amino&search=Search&db=pmc, the URL
Prefix is http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?term=, and the URL Suffix is
&search=Search&db=pmc.
